Echo
acrylic on canvas
76 x 61 cm
Echo is not a voice from the past, rather, a continuum from the present to past and back again. With each trip, a part of this ‘echo’ is lost, a metaphor for the disintegration of the reality of a memory as time goes by, in turn, the formation of its impression which takes over- preserving itself as a mere essence.
Rather than interpreting Echo as the reflection of sound waves bounced from a surface, I wanted to explore the word through the concept of calling back to oneself and the motion of self-introspection. In particular, the reflection of my memories and echos of childhood within the domestic scene.
